Not only is Mother’s Day this Sunday, but it is also Jimmie’s 2nd Birthday. I swear, year one went by so slow. Year two: way too fast. Looking back at both years, year two was a lot harder than year one, even though it did feel faster. What will year three bring? We shall find out soon enough.
This year Jimmie learned how to:
Walk
Run
Use a fork/spoon
Drink from a cup (with assistance)
Build block towers up to 9 blocks
Complete a block sorter with simple shapes
Do a puzzle with help
Communicate by pointing, shaking his head no/yes
Pointing to several items in a book: tree, frog, turtle, lady bug, sun, moon etc.
Climb up and down stairs (not unassisted yet)
Point to eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, hair, knees, elbows, toes, fingers, tongue, belly, belly button
Take off shirt/pants
Blow bubbles
Turn lights on/off
Kick a ball
Throw tantrums
….and so much more!
It is hard to remember what our children can do when we keep worrying about what they can’t do. Jimmie isn’t talking all that much, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t understand what we are saying. I can’t believe how much he has learned this year.
Just a few photos from Jimmie’s last week of being ONE!
Now it’s time to stop counting in weeks and months. When someone asks, I’ll just say, “Oh, he’s two.” My growing boy. I hope this year is even better than last.
He didn’t realize that love as powerful as your mother’s for you leaves its own mark. -Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone J.K. Rowling
Happy birthday Jimmie!
