Friday Five

1. I thought Thanksgiving was ridiculously late this year. Turns out, it was even later last year: a year ago today. I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday filled with love, laughter, and good wine. I was happy to celebrate Jimmie’s first Thanksgiving, but part of our hearts were missing because of Jim’s absence. So far we have spent two out of four Thanksgivings together since we got married.

2. We tried to go to Kohl’s this morning for Black Friday shopping  but it was a bust. The lines were just too long to stand in, it was hot, and pushing a stroller around in those conditions just didn’t define fun. Round two is happening tonight, hopefully it is less crowded!

3. Jimmie is enjoying trying new foods. This week he has had sweet potatoes, green beans, and squash. He seems to like all three, but green beans are definitely in third place. On to fruits next week, which I’m SURE he will love even more.

4. I somehow managed to lose weight on Thanksgiving. How you ask? I have no idea. I may need new pants soon. I am 3 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight.

5. I need to start planning some Christmas crafts to do with Jimmie. Any suggestions? I already want to make a hand wreath and a hand print ornament.

My Little Seat Review

Traveling with an infant is hard. You need so much stuff and sometimes you just can’t take it all, especially if you’re flying. When I found out we were going to fly to Arizona when Jimmie was about six months old, I knew I had to find a travel high chair to bring with us. High chairs are not usually small and compact, but I found one that fit our needs perfectly: My Little Seat. My Little Seat is a one size fits all travel seat that comes in a variety of colors. The portable high chair is recommend for ages six months and up. The weight limit for the seat is about 35 pounds.  You can see how easy it is to set up in this instructional video. I used this video to set up Jimmie’s seat while we were in Arizona and it only took a few seconds.

My Little Seat worked perfectly for Jimmie on our vacation because he was able to sit at the table with us at the house we rented. My Little Seat comes with a little carrying case that makes it easy to throw in my diaper bag and go. We will not go anywhere without Jimmie’s My Little Seat from here on out.

I have also used Jimmie’s My Little Seat at his grandparent’s house and it was a success. I hate when I have to set Jimmie in his car seat when a high chair is not available. My Little Seat solves this problem.

Jimmie loves to read the newspaper while I drink my coffee in the morning. On this particular day, he was reading the heath section and told me that drinking coffee is sometimes considered an unhealthy habit. I told him he needed to sleep more and then I would drink less coffee. He was not amused.

What is even more special about Jimmie’s My Little Seat is that he had his first taste of solids while sitting in it. He loved eating his rice cereal like a big boy at the adult table. When Jimmie wasn’t eating in his seat, he was able to play with toys that I placed in front of him, this kept his occupied while we ate our meals. I would give a My Little Seat to any new mom that is on-the- go.

I was given a My Little Seat in exchange for an honest review.

Happy Six Months, Jimmie!

It has been a busy, busy month. Hence, why this post is late and why I have been barely blogging. This whole parenting thing is a lot of work, but let me tell you, this little guy is so worth it.

Favorites: peek-a-boo

Weight: At his six month check up this week Jimmie weighed 18.4 pounds and measured in at 26.6 inches. Big boy!!

Firsts this month: first Halloween, rolled over from back to belly, first airplane ride, sat in a high chair at a restaurant, and got his first two teeth!

Nightly sleep schedule: Sleep has been a bit crazy since we have been moving about a lot, but it could be worse and after a rough night, all is forgiven when I see his smiles in the morning.

Favorite toy: Sesame Street Clicky Keys Teether Toy  and of course, Sophie the Giraffe.

Hardest moment of the month: Saying “bye, bye” to Daddy.

Best moment of the month: Going to Arizona to see Daddy and surviving four flights with no crying!

Friday Five

Sorry for the hiatus! We are back from Arizona and I am now back to blogging again.

1. Jimmie was an angel flying to and from Arizona to see his daddy. The only time he cried was when he was hungry, which is normal. Other than eating, all we really did on the plane is snuggle. Jimmie also made everyone on the plane fall in love with him, what a flirt.

2. Arizona was great. Jimmie had a wonderful time with his dad, and of course I had an amazing time spending time with them both, as a family again. We left the 80 degree weather on Wednesday, flew through Denver where it was snowing, and got out our first taste of snow in NJ yesterday. We must have brought it back on the airplane with us.

3. In Arizona we went to a old Western town, a ghost town, and a hippie town. We saw all different kinds of landscapes and people. It was pretty amazing how different the desert was compared to what we are used to on the East Coast.

4. Jimmie started eating solids last week. I guess rice cereal is considered a solid? We waited until we were in Arizona so Jim could be a part of Jimmie’s first eating experience. Jimmie was 6 months and one day old. He seemed to know what to do with the spoon and didn’t spit it all out. We are just giving it to him for breakfast right now, but soon I will give it to him at lunch time too, and then dinner. Things sure are changing.

5. Thanksgiving is only two weeks away and Novemeber is already halfway over. Unbelievable. Slow down time. No, scratch that. Speed up so we can see Jim again!

Jimmie’s First Halloween

Jimmie had a great first Halloween! Unfortunately, his cousin was sick and was unable to trick-or-treat with us, but we still had a good time handing out candy to all of the neighborhood kids.

This was right before he fell asleep for an hour and continued to sleep while kids were trick-or-treating.

Toby was supposed to dress up at Jimmie, but he refused to wear a onsie. Toby isn’t a dressing up kind of dog.

And of course there were puppy dog kisses…

Can you believe it’s November? Jimmie’s first Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner!
