14 weeks pregnant and back in America

Things have been crazy these past few weeks: we moved out of our Korea apartment, moved into a hotel, flew 7,000 miles back to the East Coast, and arrived in D.C. on November 12. Since then. we have been spending time with family and friends, and eating a TON of American food. I don’t have a 14 week pregnancy photo, hopefully I can make up for it for 15 weeks, but here is my baby update!

americaHow far along: 14 weeks
Gender: We like to call the baby Emerald, even though we don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl yet. (And no, that isn’t going to be the baby’s name if it’s a girl.)
Weight gain: About 5 pounds.(Probably more now, since I weighed myself on Monday and I had cracker barrel yesterday)
Maternity clothes: I bought maternity jeans today from Old Navy. They fit perfectly. I’m excited to have them for Disney in less than 2 weeks. I also bought a Belly Band (it’s called something else though) from Target.
Stretch marks: I don’t think so. I have been using lots of cocoa butter.
Belly button in or out: Innie
Sleep: Glad to not be sleeping on a Korean mattress anymore. I am still jet lagged, but I am falling asleep really fast and then waking up too early.
Best moment this week: coming back to America!!!
Worst moment this week: Losing a member of our family, Aunt Joyce will be missed.
Miss anything: Lunch meat.
Movement: Nope. Can’t wait to feel some though!
Cravings: Carbs, mainly soft pretzels and bagels. I just want carbs all day, every day.
Queasy or sick: Just jet lagged. It has been 8 days, when will it end?
Looking forward to: Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping!!!

Pregnancy Announcement Photos!

DSC_0122We found out I was pregnant shortly after Labor Day. We were trying to get pregnant, so when I missed my time of the month, I took five tests; all of them were negative. When I didn’t get it for almost two more weeks, we decided maybe I should take a another test, especially since I was having awful stomach aches. We went to the store and bought two boxes (2 tests each). We came home and I started cooking hot dogs on the stove for lunch. While the hot dogs were cooking, I took test #1 and it was a success. We celebrated and cried and then I thought, let me take another to make sure. So I did, and it was also a winner. But then I thought, well maybe this box is defective, so I opened the other box, third times a charm. I finally believed the tests after the third one came out positive and then we sat down and ate some hot dogs to celebrate.

DSC_0096We took some photos right away to capture the moment, and then we took some more over the next couple weeks, thinking I was a lot further along than I actually was. I originally thought I was due May 6th and in reality, I am due May 19.

Most of my inspiration came from random blogs I found on Pinterest, and a few Jim and I thought of ourselves. He will be my awesome photographer throughout my entire pregnancy.

And I leave you with this little gem of a video from Full House when Rebecca tells Jessie she is pregnant. It’s a classic.

12 Weeks Pregnant!

I have been very, very, very lazy at blogging and the reason being, I’m pregnant with Baby M #1! We found out early September, and finally announced it to the world yesterday. I wanted to blog about being pregnant so bad and that prevented me from having any motivation to blog about much else. So here’s to hopping I can blog more again.

My newest blog obsession is this baby blog: Little Baby Garvin. I found her on Pinterest through her famous chalkboard baby updates. I decided I wanted to do bi-weekly updates too so I’m snagging her little survey. Hope she doesn’t mind (I’m sure I’m not the first or last to copy her idea!) She is pregnant with baby #2 and a little but further along than me.

How far along: 12 weeks
Gender: I did this old wives tale ring test and it said it was going to be a girl, we won’t find out until we get to Maryland, though.
Weight gain: About 4 pounds. I wasn’t gaining any and then all of a sudden, BAM.
Maternity clothes: I bought a bunch from Asos and Old Navy and sent them to my parent’s house, but I am still wearing all my normal stuff, yay for big winter sweaters!
Stretch marks: Maybe on my hips 😦 I have always had baby bearing hips. I need to remember to use more cocoa butter.
Belly button in or out: Innie
Sleep: I wake up to go to the bathroom at 2:30 every night. I have had an overactive bladder for almost 7 years now, so this is pretty normal. It was worse when I first became pregnant, but I’m back to the way it was before. I also hate my Korea bed, so hopefully a better night’s sleep is in my near future!
Best moment this week: Our Ultrasound on Friday. The baby waved!
Worst moment this week: The movers taking all of our stuff to be sent back to the US. I can’t believe we won’t see it until January 10th! I had a lot of anxiety that day.
Miss anything: coffee. I know I can have some, but I’m an addict and you give an addict a cup of coffee, there’s no stopping from there. I did have a cup when I went out to breakfast the other day and it was heaven. I can’t wait to get back to the States where Starbucks has decaf espresso. Apparently they don’t believe in decaf here in Korea, and I also hate decaf coffee.
Movement: Nope. But we did see the baby move on our ultrasound. Our little sprout did a little hop.
Cravings: AMERICA. It’s hard to tell what I’m craving because of the pregnancy vs. what I’m craving because I miss America. I want Chic-Fil-a all day, every day, but this has been the norm for a year and a half, while living in Korea. I can say that I have been dreaming about it more often than not.
Queasy or sick: I haven’t gotten sick at all, knock on wood, but I did ALMOST get sick when I had to find the nasty smell in my fridge this morning. It was broccoli and it was awful.
Looking forward to: Going home to celebrate with family and friends. I hope I have more of a bump by then!
