As I was looking up a news story from back home in the states, I stumbled upon this:
Panera Bread has opened their fourth pay-what-you-can location in Chicago. The three other locations are located in Montana, Michigan, and Oregon.
The concept is that if you can pay full price, you pay it; if you don’t have enough, give what you can; if you don’t have any money to pay at all, you can volunteer to work for an hour after you eat.
Sure, I’ll volunteer an hour of my time for a free meal from Panera, after all, I technically am unemployed.
If only we had Panera Bread in Korea, life would be that much better.
